2012 London Olympics: Opening Day & the Day After

The opening day of the 2012 London Summer Olympics has shown its best - nation’s history, culture and British contributions to the world. It started with a English rural idyll with sheep, cows and farmers. As the program progresses, it transforms into a industrialize place which shows London's transition. Music and dances created a more understanding of the culture of the British. Part of the program featured James Bond and Britain’s Queen Elizabeth who jumped down from the helicopter scene, Mr. Bean in a comedic part of the program, and Mary Poppins. JK Rowling author of the famous book Harry Potter took part also. Famous names who took part in the ceremony were Olympic boxer Muhammad Ali, the English soccer icon David Beckham, former Beatles' member Paul McCartney who sung “Hey Jude”, and world wide web inventor Tim Berners-Lee. The ceremony was not the usual thing of the Olympics with field-liked demonstration of dances. Not thrilling and not exciting in appearance but smoothly entertaining show which was directed by Oscar winner for “Slumdog Millionaire” film director Danny Boyle.
The parade of nations came after with Greece entering first on the stadium (because Greece was the birth place of Olympics) and Great Britain being host the last delegation as part of the traditional Olympic parade. After 204 nations parade, Olympic flag was raised, Oaths were pronounced and the Queen commenced the beginning of the games. What is most genius part of the program was the lighting of the torch.
 Congratulations London! Job well done.
