Fencing Threatened Not to be Competed at the 2013 Games

JAKARTA - Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) fights for fencing in order to be contested at the 2013 Games Myanmar.
"Fencing is still likely competed in the event for the Southeast Asian Games as long as there are supports from 7 NOC (National Olympic Committee) in Southeast Asia," said Secretary General of KOI, Timbul Thomas Lubis in Jakarta, Thursday (11/10/2012) .
2013 Myanmar SEA Games Organizing Committee did not include fencing as a sport to be competed. In addition to fencing, some sports that are not contested at the SEA Games in Myanmar in between, rock climbing, rollerblading, kempo and fin swimming.
Instead there are some sports that will compare the exhibition party at SEA Games 2013, namely Chinlone, Tarung Degrees, and vovinam.
"If the fencing will be contested, preparation for one year is enough to prepare athletes to compete in fencing Indonesia SEA Games," said Timbul Thomas Lubis.
This is not the first time that fencing is not contested, the SEA Games 2009 in Laos, fencing is also not contested.
Responding dipertandingkannya unlikely sports are Indonesia, the Deputy Secretary-General PP Fencing Association of Indonesia (IKASI) Hans Nayoan revealed no reason dipertandingkannya fencing because the host does not have a fencing athlete.
"We can only surrender if the fencing is not contested at the 2013 Games. Federation of Asian fencing also can not help much, still waiting for our final KONI lobbying efforts of the center," he added.
