Malaysian Yachting Association (MYA) President Datuk Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim said the association has targetted three gold medals from sailing events.

"MYA is sending 19 sailors to Myanmar. They will compete in 12 of the 13 categories competed. Our sailors will be involved in Optimist, Laser, International 420/470, Windsurfing and Half Rater," he said.

Kamaruzzaman said the sailors were better prepared compared to previous years, in terms of training and equipment.

"In fact, we are sending the biggest team as far as the SEA Games is concerned. I met the sailors and they are all eager to compete. They seem very determined to conquer the seas in Myanmar," he said.

One of the young sailors, Muhammad Fauzi said the team has been training since last year and had competed in several local and international sailing competitions.

"We are ready for the challenge and we are confident of winning the gold medal," he said.
