The Philippine basketball teams separated ways in their second assigments as the men's team flourished while the women's team stumbled. Sinag Pilipinas scored its second straight victory in the SEA Games with a 107-57 drubbing of Cambodia while Perlas suffered a 75-36 defeat to Thailand Tuesday  at the Zayar Thiri Indoor Stadium in Naypyitaw.

After struggling against a surprisingly tough Singaporean squad, Sinag made a statement against a hapless Cambodia team. After an 11-all deadlock in the first quarter, Sinag flexed their muscles and showed their true form en route to a dominant victory.
Far Eastern University's Mac Belo had another outstanding game as he scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds while Ronald Pascual chipped in16 points, 12 coming from beyond the arc. Kiefer Ravena and Garvo Lanete added 12 points apiece while Bobby Ray Parks and Jericho Cruz scored 10 each for Sinag.

Sinag Pilipinas started their game against Cambodia on a much better note as they erected a 9-3 lead. The Philippines held Cambodia to horrid 1 of 14 in the first four minutes of the game. However, the duo of Anthony Dominic Dar and Thach Boroth knotted the game at 11-all with 3:34 left in the opening period.
Triples from Ronald Pascual and Garvo Lanete gave the Philippines some breathing room as they led 25-16 heading into the second quarter.
Cambodia relied on guard Anthony Dominic Dar on offense as he scored 27 points in the game. He was backed up by Sak Ratana who chipped in 14 points. The two of them were the only Cambodians to score in double digits.

Back to back triples from Kevin Ferrer stretched Sinag’s lead to 14, 33-19, two minutes into the second period. Ronald Pascual continued to pour in the points for Sindag as another basket from the former San Sebastian Stag gave the Philippines a 39-20 lead halfway into the second period.
The Philippines led 44-25 at the half with Ronald Pascual leading the squad with 13 points. Mac Belo added 10. Dar led Cambodia at the half with 15 points as he scored on five triples.

Back to back baskets from Bobby Ray Parks gave the Philippines a 30 point lead at 55-25 at the 7:42 mark of the third quarter. Kiefer Ravena checked back into the game in the closing minutes of the third quarter and scored five straight points to give the Philippines a 37 point lead, its largest lead at that point. Sinag held a 76-39 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

With the game's result no longer in question, Sinag still poured in the points in the fourth quarter. They enjored a 54-point lead, the biggest of the game, after another triple from Ronald Pascual with 1:13 left in the game.
Sinag will resume their campaign on December 12 as they battle the home team Myanmar.

Perlas Pilipinas, on the other hand, was blown out by a superior Thai squad, 75-36, in the continuation of the women’s basketball competitions. Thailand defeated the Philippines on a desperation three point shot in the last editions of the SEA Games.
