Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: With nine months to go to the 29th SEA Games in August next year, the Kuala Lumpur 2017 Organising Committee (MASOC) reported good progress in its preparations for the biennial Games. Malaysia’s Youth and Sports Minister, Brig Gen Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also the Chairman of the Organising Committee, expressed his satisfaction over the level of preparation for the Games.
“The 13 committees entrusted to prepare for the Games have reported smooth progress with 33 per cent of preparatory work completed,” he said. “This includes preparation in key areas such as accommodation, sports and technical, transportation, ceremonies and events such as the torch and baton relays.
“We targeted an achievement of 34 per cent at this stage but there were slight delays in some of the areas,” he added. The 29th SEA Games is scheduled from August 19-31, 2017, while the 9th ASEAN Para Games will be held two weeks later from September 17-23.
