10th Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championships 2016

The 10th Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championships 2016 was held from December 21 to December 24 in Makassar-South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The event showcased 7 events and was participated by host Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.

Singapore and Vietnam teams were the big winners of this edition of Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championships

The Men's team event was won by Vietnamese team. They defeated powerhouse Singapore with the score of 3-2 in their final team match. Vietnamese team was composed of Dinh Quang Linh, Doan Ba Tuan Anh, Nguyen Anh Tu, and Nguyen Duc Tuan. While team Singapore was represented by Chew Zheyu Clarence, Poh Shao Feng Ethan, Edric Lim Zheng Jie, Maxxe Tay Ming Han and Beh Kun Ting.  Singapore team ended for third place to win bronze medal.

In Women's team event, Singapore settled for silver while Vietnam displayed their prowess for this event. 

For Men's Singles, Vietnam's Nguyen Anh Tu defeated his Singaporean rival Poh Shao Feng Ethan 4-0 to win the gold medal. Tu defeated Ethan with the score of 11-6, 11-7, 11-5, and 11-9. While Ethan settled for silver medal. Bronze medal was awarded to Dinh Quang Linh of Vietnam.

For the Women's Singles event, it was all Vietnam versus Singapore teams in the semi-finals. Zhang Wanling of Singapore lost to Mai Hoang My Trang of Vietnam to settle for bronze while on the other match, Singapore's Lin Ye beat Nguyen Thi Viet Linh of Vietnam. Linh settled for bronze. In gold medal match, Singapore Lin Ye defeated Nguyen Thi Viet Linh, 4-1 to win the gold medal.

In Men's Doubles, it was Singapore's Clarence Chew and Ethan Poh who emerged as champion. They defeated Dinh Quang Linh and Nguyen Anh Tu of Vietnam who only settled for silver medal. Indonesia's GIlang Maulana & Ficky Supit Santoso and Singapore's Maxxe Tay & Edric Lim who failed to win at the semi-finals settled for bronze medals.

In Women's Doubles,  Lin Ye and Goi Rui Xuan of Singapore won the gold medal defeating Lilis Indriani & Gustin Dwi Jayanti of Indonesia in the final match. The Indonesian team only settled for silver medal. Bronze medal was also awarded to Kharisma Nur Hawwa & Hani Tri Azhari of Indonesia.

In Mixed Doubles, Singapore's Clarence Chew and Lin Ye won the championship defeating Ficky Supit Santoso & Gustin Dwi Jayanti of Indonesia who settled for silver medal.

The Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championships is being held biennially since 2006.
