4th SEAVF Southeast Asian Vovinam Championships 2017

The (SEAVF) Southeast Asian Vovinam Championships 2017 was held at the Royal Angkor Resort in Seam Reap, Cambodia. The 5-day tournament ended last January 15 and was participated by 7 countries like Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and host Cambodia.

Vietnam bagged 12 golds, 13 silvers and 1 bronze medals. Cambodia ranked the second with 9 golds, 7 silvers and 10 bronzes, followed by Laos with 4 golds, 3 silvers and 14 bronzes.

(Thailand also won 1 silver medal, while Indonesia and Myanmar along with 2 bronze medals on the first of competition)

Some of the gold medalists of the tournament were: 51kg female (Le Thi Lan Anh), 54kg women (Nguyen Thi Kim Hoang), 54kg male (Cam Vinh Luong) , 57kg male (Tran Ngoc Nam) and 60kg male (Nguyen Thanh Liem). Also, Phailath Thammavongsa of Laos won gold in the men’s dancing event with a weapon.

Vietnam will propose UNESCO to recognize Vovinam, a world-famous Vietnamese martial art, as the world's intangible cultural heritage.
