The ROBOT Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2017 was held at Nguyen Du Cultural Sport Club in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam from February 14 to 19.
Southeast Asian countries who participated in this tournament were Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and host Vietnam.
The tournament format includes thirteen (13) Asian teams which were divided into four groups. Group A is consisted by teams from China, Taipei and Hong Kong. Group B is composed of Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Japan were in Group C and competing in Group D were Singapore, Korea and India.

Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia were the only teams from Southeast Asia that made through the knock-out quarter-finals which was scheduled last February 17.

With the above results of quarter finals, Thailand managed to advance in the semi-finals against Korea.
In the semi-finals, Thailand was unable to defeat the Koreans. The Thai team only managed to snatch a win courtesy of the tandem of Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai in the mixed doubles event.
Thailand team is the only team from Southeast Asia who reached the semi finals. The highest placement reached by a Southeast Asian team for this edition.
