The YONEX - SHERA - ROZA - BTY U19 Junior International Challenge 2017 was held from April 4 to April 9 in Bangkok, Thailand where two of our junior badminton players took two championship titles.
In the men's singles event, Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn took home the title beating Malaysia's Fong Hau Sim on Sunday's finals. Vitidsarn dominated the games 21-18 and 21-10.
In the same event, two Thais reached the semifinals. These were Saran Jamsri and Ruttanapak Oupthong who shared the position of third place.
Indonesia as one of the powerhouses in badminton clinched the women's singles title. Gregoria Mariska Tunjung defeated local bet Pattarasuda Chaiwan in a commanding scores of 21-11 and 21-14 in the finals. Malaysia's Qi Xuan Eoon placed third in the same event.
Also reaching the semifinals and placing third place were Woratat Jianpipatgun and Warit Sarapat of Thailand in the men's junior doubles. Agatha Imanuela and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti of Indonesia shared at third place with Malaysian Sueh Jeou Tan and Ee Wei Toh in the women's doubles event.
While two Indonesian duos shared the third spot in the mixed junior doubles event. These were the duo of Renaldi Samosir with Hediana Julimarbela and Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob partnered with Ribka Sugiarto.
Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam also participated in this six-day tournament.
